Two (2) Full-Time Health Insurance Navigators

The Healthcare Consortium is looking for two people who want to join our friendly and welcoming team in a flexible and supportive workplace.

Currently, we are seeking to fill two full-time (35 hours per week) non-exempt positions in our Navigator Program.   Our Navigators help individuals and families in Columbia and Greene Counties to apply for health insurance through the New York State of Health, NY’s health insurance marketplace.  Since providing this help often eases the worry and confusion that people have about health insurance and improves their ability to get and stay healthy, it can be deeply rewarding work.

The role involves working with people both in person and by phone, primarily from an office located in Hudson but also from libraries, town halls, churches, and other locations in Columbia and Greene Counties. Travel to those locations must be in one’s own personal vehicle  and will be reimbursed at the federal rate ($.70/mile in 2025).  The role also involves working some evenings and weekends, though this is only done occasionally and with ample advance notice.

The Healthcare Consortium is seeking applicants who are motivated to help others, curious and eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent customer service.  Other qualifications include a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and a valid driver’s license; no special knowledge or previous experience with health insurance is required, as extensive training will be provided. Preference will be given to individuals who speak Spanish and/or Bangla.

The starting wage for this non-exempt position is $20.00/hour with a rich benefit package. Application packages will be evaluated and applicants interviewed on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is found.

Full-Time Information and Assistance Specialist for Greene County NY Connects

Do you have an instinct for helping others and want to feel like you’ve made a difference at the end of the day? If so, this position may be right for you.

The Healthcare Consortium is seeking to employ a full-time (35 hrs/week) Information and Assistance Specialist for the Greene County NY Connects Program. Although an employee of the Consortium, a private, not-for-profit organization based in Hudson, this person will work primarily in an office located at 411 Main Street in Catskill.

The role of the Information and Assistance Specialist is to help individuals, their family members, and other caregivers learn about aging and disability resources that are available in and around Greene County.  By telephone, on-line, or in-person, the Information and Assistance Specialist helps link people to long term services and supports, coordinates with other agencies to guide people through eligibility processes, provides seamless linkages for any necessary assessment that may be needed, helps with application and enrollment in public assistance benefits, and conducts program outreach.

Since any new person in this role will undergo extensive training through reading, on-line training modules, and coaching, we will consider applicants with a variety of work experiences (e.g. hospitality).  However, the person who fills this role MUST be motivated to help others, be patient and courteous, and have an instinct for working a problem until it is solved. A knowledge of Greene County and its public and private providers of health and human services is helpful but can also be learned.

Other qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, a valid driver’s license, and a reliable car. The candidate must also be able to report to alternate worksites, including the Consortium’s main office in Hudson, make the occasional home visit, and be available on the rare evening or weekend. Work-related travel expenses will be reimbursed at the federal rate ($.70/mile in 2025).

The starting wage for this non-exempt position is $24/hour with a rich benefit package. Application packages will be evaluated and applicants interviewed on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is found.
