Our Friend of the Consortium Honoree
Karen dePeyster
For over 20 years, Karen dePeyster led the Consortium’s Tobacco-Free Action of Columbia and Greene Counties Program. During her tenure, she catalyzed meaningful and lasting changes that support good health and well-being in our community. From advocating for smoke-free housing to bringing education about tobacco to the youth and educators in our schools, strengthening rules about tobacco use around the workplace, and ensuring smoke-free parks, it can honestly be said that Karen’s work made our community a better place to live, learn, work, and play. Since her passing late last year, our office has deeply missed her presence as a dedicated colleague and, more importantly, thoughtful friend. Karen made an indelible mark on both the organization and the community it serves, and we are proud to recognize her legacy.
